Chinch Bugs in Florida and Other Pests
Published by Natasha | Filed under General
There are many different pests in Florida for one to worry about, though chinch bugs in Florida are really some of the most annoying in the are. They can be difficult to see, but they do leave their mark loud and clear. It will start with a small patch of dry grass, and that patch will grow until your lawn takes on the appearance of Swiss cheese. If you leave them alone, they will decimate the entire lawn, and you may find yourself needing to plant new grass.
Chich bugs in Florida attack your lawn by sucking the juice out of the grass, leaving it dry, brown, and dead. In essence, these bugs are attracted to the carbohydrates in your lawn, and the richer your lawn happens to be, the more chinch bugs you are going to attract. Luckily there are pesticides on the market that will help to get rid of the bugs, and help you reclaim your lawn. It is important however that you do this before your entire lawn is destroyed!
There are other animals in the state to worry about of course, such as alligators or wild cats that may or may not wander into your yard out of curiosity. If you have young children, It would be a good idea to make sure that any house you are purchasing has a fenced in yard, but do remember that a fence is not a babysitter. Do your best to keep yourself safe, and the state of Florida will treat you quite nicely!
