Davis Island Real Estate
Entrepreneur D.P. Davis developed
Davis Island during the real estate boom of the 1920's.
The island is located at the mouth of the Hillsborough
River, and is at the heart of Tampa's business center.
Although Davis disappeared before he could see how his
dream progressed, he would certainly be proud of the
results. Davis' legacy is evident in this colorful,
renowned community, which boasts some of Tampa's most
luxurious waterfront real estate. Both Mediterranean
revival and custom estates dot the landscape of this
self-contained community. The island is conveniently
located at the crossroads of downtown Tampa, Hyde Park,
and Bayshore Boulevard. Right on the island, residents
and visitors will also find a unique sampling of shops
and restaurants, as well as a yacht club and an executive
airport. Homes on Davis Island range in price from $200,000
to over $4 million. On a tour of the island, visitors
can view the fabulous home sites of Tampa's elite and
learn more about Davis' financial rise and fall as well
as his mysterious disappearance. Davis Island is also
home to several high-rise apartment buildings and hotels,
most of which are survivors of the Land Bust that resulted
in bank seizures just prior to the Great Depression.
Rich in history and personality, Davis Island is certainly
a unique place to call home!
